We offer several options for cremation and different urns

Lovingkindness Memorial Services

Memorial Options

After your pet has passed, we will personally transport them or arrange for transport to the crematorium if you wish to have them cremated. There are several options for cremation and different urns available. We also invite you to submit photos, poems, stories, and other media for our In Memory page.

Private Cremation

Your pet is cremated by itself in the cremation chamber, and there is no comingling of ashes. You will receive the ashes in 1-2 weeks in an urn of your choosing. If you wish to attend the cremation, you may schedule this service through Agape Pet Services. You can view the urn options by clicking here.

Communal Cremation

Your pet will be cremated with other beloved pets in the crematorium at the same time and ashes will not be returned to you.

Burial

If you choose to bury your pet at home, please follow local ordinances for safe burial. Pet Cremations Services of Richmond also has a pet cemetery, and offer funeral services.

Pet Memorial Parks has a historical pet cemetery in the West End of Richmond. They will come to the veterinary office or your home when your pet passes, and transport them to the cemetery and prepare them for burial in a lined casket.

Sending Items With Pets for Aftercare:

We understand the deep emotional bond you share with your beloved pet, and we honor the trust you place in us during this difficult time. Many families choose to send special items—such as blankets, toys, collars, or handwritten notes—with their pet for cremation. While we make every effort to honor these meaningful gestures, we would like to gently explain our policy regarding such items.

Items Removed Prior to Cremation

Many materials are not suitable for cremation and may pose safety risks or interfere with the respectful handling of your pet’s remains. Metal, synthetic materials (such as polyester, nylon, plastics), or batteries (such as those in collars or toys) can emit harmful fumes, damage equipment, or compromise the integrity of the ashes. For these reasons, we may need to remove certain items before cremation begins.

Items Cannot Be Returned

Once an item has been sent with your pet, we regret that it is not possible to return it to you, even if it is removed prior to cremation. This is because the handling process involves safety and biosecurity protocols that may prevent us from preserving or tracking the item for return.

We ask that families who wish to keep a cherished item as a keepsake to not send these items with their pets, and to inquire with our team about which types of items are suitable for inclusion in the cremation process if they wish an item to be cremated with their pet.

We are honored to assist you in saying goodbye to your beloved companion and are here to answer any questions or help you find a meaningful way to commemorate their life.
